Skid-mounted Distillation and Dehydration Systems

Easy to install modular design

Vogelbusch USA's skid-mounted distillation and dehydration systems are custom-engineered for a wide range of specific applications in the ethanol and chemical industries. The versatile designs  are compact, easy to install, and require minimum field connections.

Systems can be supplied to handle feeds from a few gallons per minute up to hundreds of gallons per minute, and are perfect for ethanol recovery from proprietary Second Generation pilot and demonstration plants.

Prefabricated process units

Each modular system is designed as a complete process unit and is prefabricated to the maximum extent possible so that the time and cost to the customer for field installation is minimized. Hookups for feed, byproducts, product, and utilities are situated at the edge of the module for easy tie-ins.

The typical modular system will include columns, vessels, heat exchangers, pumps, and other types of process equipment, all mounted (where practical) within structural steel framing. This structural steel framing serves as a shipping support and is laid out to provide access to the equipment both during normal operation and for maintenance.

Distillation & Molecular Sieve Dehydration system for brewer’s yeast recovery facility located in Ontario, California.

The package supplied by Vogelbusch USA was designed as a two-stage process that consists of a two-column distillation, which produces an ethanol/water vapor that is then dried in a molecular sieve unit. The system can produce 900,000 gallons per year (10,300 liter per day) of dehydrated ethanol.

Ineos Bio

Vogelbusch supplied the ethanol distillation and dehydration equipment for the 2G (second generation) demonstration plant of Ineos Bio`s waste-to-bioenergy facility near Vero Beach, Florida.

The project uses Ineos Bio’s feedstock-flexible biomass conversion technology. It's unique combination of gasification and fermentation technologies turns different types of waste materials, including municipal solid waste, into advanced biofuels and renewable power.

It can manufacture 8 million gallons per year (87,000 liter per day) of cellulosic ethanol. Since 2018 the plant is owned by Frankens Energy.

Custom-built to customer specification

All components are rigorously tested prior to shipment, and the customer’s mechanical specifications, standards, and guidelines are precisely followed, assuring that the system will meet all the customer’s expectations. For each custom-built system, Vogelbusch engineers provide guidance throughout the entire project, including process development, engineering, installation assistance, training, and technical support.
